How Hagenow is driving regional growth with the help of AI technology
Many regions are facing the challenge of making their economic strengths and technological potential more visible in order to enable sustainable growth. The town of Hagenow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is taking an innovative approach: by combining local expertise with modern cloud and AI solutions, it aims to create new access to regional knowledge. The focus is on an AI-based business chatbot that acts as a digital information assistant and provides investors and companies with targeted information.
Regional intelligence made visible
Knowledge about a region is usually held by local people - entrepreneurs, craftspeople, urban planners and administrators. However, this knowledge is often scattered across many individuals, documents and data sources. Hagenow is therefore asking itself the question: how can this scattered knowledge be pooled and used efficiently to strategically develop the location?
The answer: a digital chatbot that presents the region's strengths in clear language - developed using AI tools from the Google Cloud. It is programmed to answer specific questions about the economy, innovation and infrastructure - based on structured and unstructured data.
An innovation project with exemplary character
Hagenow is acting as a model municipality in the smart city sector and has set up an interdisciplinary team for this purpose. This brings together representatives from business development, science and technology - including the Research Institute for Regional and Knowledge Management GmbH, the Schwerin Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Google Cloud Germany and Google Cloud Premier Partner Go Reply. Together, they are working on making digital innovations usable for the region.
According to Roland Masche, business promoter in Hagenow, the strength of the project lies in the fact that regional development is seen as a joint process - in which technology companies are not just service providers, but active partners in growth.
