TIMETOACT convinces MARKANT Handels und Service GmbH with customized licensing model

Regular software renewals ensure that a company benefits permanently from software updates and bug fixes from the software manufacturer. We are very pleased that we were able to convince the successful MARKANT Handels und Service GmbH with a customized licensing model for the license renewal.

MARKANT Handels und Service GmbH (MARKANT) is fully exploiting the potential of its IBM software licenses with this year's license renewal. Instead of relying on IBM's traditional Passport Advantage model as in the past, MARKANT is using a licensing concept that has been specially adapted to the company for the first time. This was preceded by a detailed inventory analysis, in which we compared the existing licenses with the current requirements together with MARKANT and IBM. In a joint workshop, we also determined how the company will develop in  the next few years in line with its strategic and operational goals.

Customed licenses

The information gained from this was incorporated into a licensing concept that is fully tailored to the MARKANT company. "Where MARKANT used to buy an off-the-peg suit, it now enjoys the benefits of a made-to-measure suit. There are no more compromises or concessions, the licensing fits 100% – and also adapts quite easily if anything changes at MARKANT," explains Hermann Balle, Managing Director TIMETOACT GROUP. "Until now, we have always used the standard model that came closest to our requirements. We never thought that our software licensing would one day be tailored to us. With the customized licensing model that we created together with IBM, MARKANT now uses the software licenses at the optimal price. MARKANT only pays for the licenses that are actually used. In addition, the MARKANT can variably reduce or increase the number of licenses for selected products. "You can never plan 100% how a company will develop. With the new licensing, MARKANT can act very flexibly without having to fear compliance violations," knows Hermann Ballé.
