Support for IBM software licenses and ILMT for GLS

GLS IT Service GmbH has been relying on TIMETOACT's expertise in IBM software licenses for two and a half years. The starting point for the cooperation was the procurement of IBM licenses from the IT service provider of GLS in March 2019. In order to determine the optimal form of licensing for other products used, an inventory was conducted. Here, the IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) was identified as the optimal solution to meet compliance requirements. In preparation for possible IBM audits, it is important to use the tool correctly and to continue to avoid underlicensing in the future.

In addition to the optimal customer requirements and the corresponding licensing and its documentation, the core requirement was to sensitize the employees of GLS IT Service to the topic of license management.

The key point in this cooperation is primarily the support of the ILMT and the support in complying with the licensing requirements:

• Optimal use of the ILMT
• Complete coverage and up-to-dateness of all operating systems
• Avoidance of underlicensing
• Creation of regular reports
• Prompt implementation of changes in IBM license metrics in the ILMT

Six months after the installation of the ILMT, TIMETOACT took over productive operation with continued managed services. In the future, TIMETOACT's experts will continue to support and assist GLS IT Service in various technical topics and issues related to IBM software licensing.
