In 2023, Ping Identity completed a strategic merger with ForgeRock, another leading provider of identity and access technologies. The result is a combined solution provider with one of the most comprehensive portfolios in the enterprise identity and access management space. The strengths of both platforms—especially in CIAM, directory services, consent management, and automation—have been unified in a joint product strategy.

Ping Identity offers a modular platform for identity and access management, specifically tailored to the needs of large, regulated, and globally distributed organizations:

• PingOne Platform
  A central cloud-based identity and access management platform – modular, multi-tenant, and highly available.

• Single Sign-On (SSO)
  Secure, seamless sign-on across applications – including federated authentication (e.g., SAML, OIDC).

• Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  Adaptive MFA based on risk, context, and user behavior – easily integrated into existing apps and portals.

• Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
  Following the ForgeRock merger, Ping Identity now also offers full identity lifecycle management – e.g., onboarding, role modeling, and recertification.

• Access Management
  Fine-grained access control for web, mobile, and API access – with policy engines, risk analysis, and real-time decision-making.

• Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM)
  Manage millions of customer identities with high performance, consent management, and self-service capabilities.

• Directory Services
  Scalable directory services (ForgeRock Directory) for identity data, session information, and authorization policies.

Ping Identity (including ForgeRock technology) is used wherever digital identities must be managed securely and user-centrically. A key focus is on different identity types, such as employees, partners, B2C, and B2B. Ping was among the first vendors to consistently address these scenarios.

This has led to further innovations around SSO and adaptive MFA – whether in the office, mobile, or remote. Complex access scenarios, such as multi-brand enterprises or partner portals, can be managed in a granular way with Ping’s Access Management components – a key aspect of fraud prevention.

In IGA and Directory Services, customers benefit from a highly available and scalable architecture – ideal for regulated industries with strong audit requirements or cloud-first strategies. Ping Identity is also particularly strong in CIAM, enabling user-friendly registration, privacy management (consent), and seamless integration with marketing and sales channels.

The platform also integrates well with existing security and ITSM ecosystems – using REST APIs, SCIM, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP, and webhooks.

Ping Identity is offered as a modular cloud platform, with some products still available for on-prem deployment. Licensing is typically usage-based – depending on the number of identities, authentications, or feature modules. Volume-based models for CIAM scenarios (e.g., monthly active users) are also available.
