What is Okta?
Since its founding in 2009 and the merger with Auth0 in 2021, Okta has established itself as one of the leading independent identity providers for companies around the world.

The Okta platform covers two key application areas: Customer Identity and Workforce Identity. Both solutions are based on a uniform, cloud-native architecture and can be flexibly adapted to individual business requirements.
Customer Identity – Secure and scalable customer experiences
In the area of Customer Identity , Okta helps companies provide secure and frictionless login and registration processes for web and mobile applications. The solution is designed for high user numbers and enables the management of millions of customer identities. Flexible APIs and SDKs allow Okta to be quickly integrated into existing applications. Authentication processes can be individually adapted to your own branding and the desired user experience. At the same time, integrated security functions reliably protect against identity theft, fraud and account takeovers.
Workforce Identity – Secure access for employees and partners
With the Workforce Identity solution, Okta enables secure and convenient access to corporate applications for employees, external partners and suppliers. Single sign-on (SSO) allows users to log in once and gain access to all approved systems. This is complemented by multi-factor authentication (MFA) and adaptive access controls that make contextual security decisions.
In addition, Okta automates identity lifecycle management by centrally creating, customizing, and deactivating user accounts. As a result, companies reduce manual administrative effort, increase security and meet compliance requirements more efficiently. Access is possible at any time and from anywhere – without compromising on control or transparency.
Okta License Model
Okta's licensing model is based on a cloud-based subscription and is flexible for different use cases.
For employees and partners (workforce identity), licensing is usually per user, supplemented by freely combinable function packages. For external users and customers (Customer Identity), Okta is licensed on a pay-as-you-go basis according to monthly active identities.
In this way, companies can adapt the range of functions and costs specifically to their requirements and implement their identity strategy in a scalable manner.
IPG has acquired Okta partnership from identic
With the acquisition of identic group AG by IPG in 2026, IPG also took over its existing partnership with Okta as its legal successor. This made it possible to enter the Okta partner ecosystem directly, without the usual lengthy process of building up know-how and reference customers.
